šŸµ The Story of Matcha – 抹茶 (matcha)

MatchaĀ (抹茶 [matcha] – powdered green tea) is more than just a drink in Japan. It is a ritual, a philosophy, and a symbol of harmony and respect. The tea is made by whisking finely ground green tea powderĀ with hot water using a čŒ¶ē…Ā (chasen – bamboo whisk), creating a smooth and foamy beverage.

In a traditional čŒ¶é“Ā (sadōĀ ā€“ the Way of Tea), the host prepares matcha with careful movements and a calm mind. Every item has a meaning: the čŒ¶ē¢—Ā (chawan – tea bowl), the čŒ¶ę“Ā (chashaku – tea scoop), and the chasen are all arranged in a harmonious flow.

The experience is about more than taste. It is a moment of stillness, mindfulness, and seasonal appreciation – known in Japanese as 侘åÆ‚Ā (wabi-sabi – the beauty of imperfection and impermanence). Whether served in a quiet tatami room or at a modern tea counter, matcha connects people through centuries of tradition.
