驚蟄的物候之一：「桃始華」。
3月5日至19日爲「驚蟄」節氣。動物昆蟲自入冬以來即藏伏土中，不飲不食，稱為「蟄」；到了這時天氣轉暖，大地春雷，而「驚蟄」即上天以打雷方式驚醒蟄居動物的冬眠。
The 3rd to 19th March is Jīngzhé, 惊蛰, the 3rd of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese calendars. The word 驚蟄 means the awakening of hibernating insects. 驚 is to startle and 蟄 means hibernating insects. Traditional Chinese folklore says that during Jingzhe, thunderstorms will wake up the hibernating insects, which implies that the weather is getting warmer.
One of the phenomena of is Jīngzhé ‘the peaches begin to blossom'.
